ScanBalt BioRegion is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2011. Ten years after the first round table discussion in Teschow, the ScanBalt Forum will again take place in the German State of Mecklenburg/Vorpommern. This time on the Pomeranian Island of Usedom.

Key topics of the Forum will be:

  • ScanBalt Health Region – the Health Flagship in the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (BSR)

  • Cross-border cooperation - Challenges and opportunities in the Baltic Sea Region

ScanBalt BioRegion is the leading macro-regional network within Life Sciences and Health promoting BSR as a globally competitive green valley and health region. The Forum is organised and hosted by BioCon Valley® one of the co-founders of ScanBalt BioRegion and the not-for-profit association ScanBalt. It is co-financed by the „Eco4Life“-project within the South Baltic Programme. Sessions and talks on BSHR HealthPort is co-financed by the Baltic Sea Region Programme 2007-2013.

The three-day Scan Balt Forum will be linked to the fourth Scan Balt Academy Day®. This meeting of leading scientists from the Baltic area will precede ScanBalt Forum and take place on September 21st 2011 in Szcecin, Poland, and Misdroy on Wolin Island, Poland – thus symbolizing the bridging of the German-Polish border. In the run-up to both ScanBalt Academy Day and ScanBalt Forum, a jointly organized trip will allow international journalists to visit the research centers at Greifswald and Szcecin.
