SUBMARINER initiates cooperation with BSR aquaculture projects
By initiative of the SUBMARINER project a meeting was organised on October 12th 2011 in Rostock between SUBMARINER and two new Baltic Sea Region Projects dealing with aquaculture:
AQUABEST (Innovative practices and technologies for developing sustainable aquaculture in the Baltic Sea Region), led by the Finnish Game and Fisheries Research Institute in Finland
AQUAFIMA (Integrating Aquaculture and Fisheries Management towards a sustainable regional development in the Baltic Sea Region), led by the Landgesellschaft Mecklenburg-Vorpommern GmbH in Germany.
Representatives of the Lead Partners and project managers came together to discuss future steps for cooperation between all three projects in order to benefit as much as possible from each others activities.
The meeting resulted in an Agreement of Cooperation between the three projects, who expressed their common interest in strengthening the regional development of the Baltic Sea Region. The specific goals of the cooperation focus on:
- Stimulating networking between partners of all three projects
- Facilitating communication and exchange of key information related to common fields of concern
- Encouraging exchange visits via participation in projects meetings
The parties intend to increase synergy via a closer cooperation among the partners of each project, encouraging materials produced by each project to be presented to the other parties and commented on before being released to public. The projects will seek every possible opportunity to incorporate the results of each's work, send delegates to each other's partner meetings and organise common events dedicated to aquaculture topics in the Baltic Sea Region.
