Marine biomass from offshore wind parks

Rødsand 2 Wind Park, Lolland, Denmark

rodsand_pilot_lineSpatial limitation is critical in the Baltic Sea. It is estimated that more than 3,500 km2 will be occupied by offshore wind parks by 2030. In order to use the limited maritime space efficiently, wind park and mariculture combinations are being considered for future sites. This study looks at the potential production of marine biomass (mussel – Mytilus edulis and seaweed – Ceramium rubrum, ulva sp. etc.) at the Rødsand 2 wind park south of Nysted, Lolland.
